CAM II FAQ
-
A tenant is missing on the voucher, what do I do?
- Make sure there is a current, saved certification file for the resident. If not, prepare one.
If there is a certification on file, check lines 108 & 116 of the unit file to make sure unit is on the correct subsidy index and type.
-
How do I transfer CAM II from one computer to another?
- Locate your property data paths (F, F1) – write down the directory path. Do a backup and then install the correct version of CAM II (current version is 2.70) on the new computer. Then restore the backup to the default directory (CAMDATA.001) or create a new folder inside the CAMSYS folder and save the data there.
-
How do I resend a voucher to TRACS?
- A, H, M, select Vouchers. Press F1 on the contract and locate the month that you need to re-send. Then select the contract and press F2, then F10 to resend to TRACSmail.
-
CAM II is not printing, what's wrong?
- Make sure the printer is ready and all power and cable connections are secure. Check that there is paper and that the printer is online(ready to print). Check F, P, F to make sure the correct form letter is there (if applicable).
Next, check the CAM II print spooler and see if there are files waiting to print or not.
If there are files waiting to print, check the Windows print spooler - click on Start, Settings, then Printers. Right click on the default printer (which should be the printer being used for CAM II) and click on the Properties option, then click the Detail tab at the top. Click on Port settings and make sure that Spool MS-DOS print jobs is NOT checked. If CAM II still won't print, go into the CAM II print spooler and clear the print cue. REBOOT computer and printer and try again.
If there are no files listed in the print spooler, then press F10 to see the "Already printed" files and check to see if the files you are expecting to print out are listed. If so, reprint by highlighting and pressing F1 on the appropriate files.
-
Printer is not stopping, printing over and over
- First, turn off printer to save paper.
Then go to CAMS print spooler and clear the cue. Then reboot computer. Go back to cams and turn printer back on. Then go back to print spooler and F10 to already printed files and reprint.

I need to reprint the closing reports from 3 months ago, how do I do that?
- All closing reports are saved for the last consecutive 12 months. You can see these files by pressing F, F1 and looking for the files named CLOSUMM.* and CLOSDETL.* where * indicates the closing month (e.g. MAY for May). Make note of the directory path at the top of the screen. You can then print these files from MS-DOS with the PRINT or COPY command or by opening the files with any text editor that can print (Notepad, Word, etc.)
-
My new contract administrator requires a baseline, how do I do that?
- Login to download instructions. Make sure to have all the contract information including the contract administrators mailing address (tracs#####) before starting the instructions.
-
I'm getting fatal error messages from TRACS. How do I correct the errors?
- For most errors, TRACS will tell you what you have sent them and what parts were incorrect (i.e. wrong ssn, or income amounts not matching..etc). To fix most errors, do a correction (A, C, C) to the certification. For those that are not familiar with the codes and the errors, download the manual from HUD.
-
I can't get into CAM II, what's going on?
- If on a network, make sure you are logged into the network. If not, go to Start, Programs, Windows explorer. Go up to Tools and Map Network drive. Make sure the path and drive are correct and re-log in.
If you are not on a network, make sure the data paths in your shortcut or batch file are correct. It's possible you may have accidentally moved or deleted your files. You can check this in Windows Explorer.
